Salt in the ocean
Salt in the ocean comes from rocks on land. The Rain that falls on the land contains some dissolved carbon dioxide from the surrounding air. As the rain erodes the rock, acids in the rainwater breaks down the rock. This process creates ions, or electrically charged atomic particles. These ions are carried away in runoff to streams and rivers and, to the ocean.
Water Temperature
The sun hits the surface layer of the ocean, heating the water up. Wind and waves mix this layer up from top to bottom, so the heat gets mixed downwards too. The average temperature of the ocean surface waters is about 17 degrees Celsius (62.6 degrees Fahrenheit).
Ocean Density
The temperature and the salinity of the water are two main factors that make ocean water more or less dense. Ocean water gets more dense as temperature goes down. So, colder the water, the more dense it is. The density of the ocean water at the sea surface is about 1027 kg/m^3.
The Color Of The Ocean
Blue wavelengths are absorbed the least by the deep ocean water and are scattered and reflected back to the observer's eye. but the ocean can be many other color depending upon particles in the water, the depth of the water, and the amount of skylight.
